Well, I have never thought checking on the snippets on the site, I thought that they are not really important because of the keywords, but it seems that your post says not. Just to make sure, I'll check on them later. Thanks for the information btw.

@Hostmonster: I think that most websites that have keywords like "welcome" or "homepage" aren't really trying to rank for these, rather a function of the content management system (CMS). The biggest challenge, that I see, is that website owners are targeting the most popular keywords rather than the best converting keywords. The greater challenge is having the understanding of this and patience to implement and study the analytics.

Thanks for the comment.

@pittfall- I totally agree with your article. This way you have some control over which keywords your site is targeted for.

A lot of times websites are targeted for totally irrelevant keywords like: Welcome or homepage. These keywords might give you traffic, just not the targeted traffic you want.

@Hostmonster - The question is whether you want them to choose or have some editorial influence.

Thanks for the comment

Ruben,

I think that the most important thing to come from this information is reinforcing your marketing message withing the given number of characters.

You said the magic numbers for Title, Description and URL are as follow...

Title – 60 characters with spaces
Description – 150 characters with spaces
URL – 85 characters

To many web sites, change to those rules will have to change the entire web site, and do not count the cost that will have with not found links at Google Search...

I´ll check my web site and see, if I need to do some changes...

Thanks for your tips.

Quality post and thanks for the tips.
I am constantly trying to get my clients to write good copy for their sites, instead what they come back with is far from geared for seo.
