AOL – Building a Better Search Portal?

by pittfall on October 17, 2006

AOL has been an important part of the Internet revolution, but over the last few years has taken a back-seat to keep the subscription base growing. Fortunately they have realized that if they want to compete in the global Internet market, they are going to have to provide something that will keep the users (subscribers or not) coming back. They are now testing a new search portal (enhanced by Google of course!).

They offer the basics:

AOL Search dynamically offers search suggestions that appear in a drop-down list below the search input field based on what you’ve typed in the input field. This patent pending technology is intended to simplify and shorten your search and navigation process.

Search History

The Search History feature keeps track of your searches for the last 30 days, making it easy to get back to your search history.

I am glad to see that they are attempting to become more relevant to users.
