BlogRush – MLM for Traffic

BlogRush - MLM for Blogs
BlogRush is a new portal with a widget to drive traffic from to your blog from other blogs that are in the same vertical as yours.

BlogRush (still in beta) is a free service that was created to help bloggers solve their #1 need:
More Readers For Their Blog.

By adding the BlogRush Widget to a blog, a blogger can get instant distribution for their latest blog post titles across a network of related blogs.

BlogRush Widget
here is a look at the widget

Basically, for every impression you provide the widget, your posts will be added to other blogs within the same related subject. Get a referral (someone signs up from your prompting) then you get a “credit” for all of their impressions and yours too. You will get referral points for up to 10 referrals that you bring to the service. Just a viral, or multi-level, marketing technique to draw more and more to their database service.

There are many who are commenting about the new service:
ShoeMoney – Great New System to Get Free Traffic
Build a Better Blog – BlogRush Syndication Network
Yack Yack SEO – BlogRush – Join BlogRush, do it now!
SEO Journal – Why You Shouldn’t Rush into BlogRush?
Blogozine – BlogRush: Increase Your Blog Traffic
Marketing Pilgrim – BlogRush Offers Free Syndicated Blog Traffic
Search Engine Round Table – Get Free Traffic with BlogRush, But Watch Out, Google AdSense Publishers
Google Tutor – 5min = 182 visitors in 24hrs!

The jury is still out on the new syndication service, but it will be interesting to see the outcome.

Interesting note: all of the blogs listed above except for Search Engine Roundtable and Search Engine Journal have installed the BlogRush widget on their websites, so it has certainly grabbed some attention.

Have you tried BlogRush yet? If so, have you seen any dramatic spikes in traffic?

It seems every blog carries a posting on BlogRush. Stephen, I am of the view that high profile bloggers and the first sign-ups are the only people that will benefit from BlogRush. For more on this stand of mine, I refer you to my blog.

Clement,
Search Engine Round Table carried a warning (on their post above) to AdSense publishers. I think the only benefit are those driving quantity over quality traffic. I am sure that many will pick up the new widget (like Snap), but this will fall I expect. I see that you have installed the widget, as many have, you have given it three weeks, let me know how it ends up!

Thanks for the comment.

First of all.. thanks for the link!

Pretty much %99 of bloggers added the widget out of curiosity. I also think that it will fall eventually, but there’s no harm in trying :)

Dee,
Your welcome for the link. I think that the curiosity will wear thin, but it is evident (to me at least) that BlogRush will have to come up with a way to maintain the level of enthusiasm that has been generated. This could be by driving lots of traffic, but that remains to be seen!

PLEASE NOTE:
Initially I signed up for BlogRush to research the concept/idea. In my post above I had placed the javascript for the BlogRush widget and it displayed on the post . However, after seeing unrelated (sexual) listings in the widget, I removed the script as it did not adhere to basic standards that I would have expected.

It has been replaced with an image of the widget to protect my readers.

I am with you on why you write a blog – I fully subscribe to the idea of writing for yourself and if that garners the attention of other well, then that is a bonus. But then here is the irony – I am attracted to the idea of trialling a tool that attracts more readers to my blog!! Here goes…

Pickled,
Thanks for the comment. I am not saying, and neither is Robyn (I suspect), that you cannot have any other purpose for your blog (or even your tool), it is just that if you set yourself up to take over the blog world (not that this isn’t possible), it is very unlikely.

But, you have to start somewhere, right? Good luck on your tool!

Cheers

Yep, I think that so many go into blogging for the money, and they set themselves up for failure. I’d love to see people get into it for whatever reason (love, diary, PR, etc) and then if money comes in it’s gravy, but if not, then their blog hasn’t ‘failed them’ because it’s still a success in its primary goal. Thanks for the link :)

Robyn,
I think that many of us just look and see what they want, rather than what is really there. This is unfortunate, because they can be missing out on the real benefits.

Successful, like other terms (rich, poor etc) are matters of perception, although they are regularly judged by many groups and organizations, but I subscribe to my own determinations rather than society’s. I really wish more would.

Your always welcome for the link, thank you for the comment! :)
