Glossary of Important SEO and SEM Terminology
Aaron Wall of SEOBook has given a very useful tool to understanding the meaning of vocabulary of SEO and SEM: The Search Engine Marketing Glossary.
Unlike a dictionary where you will just get the definition of term, Aaron gives a very descriptive perspective and allows you additional information regarding the topic and links to the resources (if related to a specific online resource).
This glossary is not only a valuable resource for newcomers to the SEO field, but also gives insight to existing SEOs the definition by someone respected in the field.
I am an expert SEO, why should I bother looking at this?
The answer might surprise you, the SEO with a blind eye to reality. Natural languages that are used cross-culturally (like English) change and evolve depending upon the culture of the people using the language. Similarly, the terminology, concept and use of Internet based information changes at an extremely faster rate. It spans across more cultures than a single language and evolves or changes in extremely short periods of time. It also has differing affects, depending upon what vertical you operate your site in.
Information is the key, the Internet is based around it and needs it to survive. Similar to a child coming out of adolescence and into teen-dom, the Internet has different values and interests. We may not know what the changes coming are, or how they will affect us, but the seasoned or professional SEO knows where to look.
Thank you Aaron.
