MSN Maps goes Live (pun intended)
Microsoft takes another stride at keeping up with the “Googles” with the new maps on the Live Search platform adding a bird’s eye view.
Microsoft puts up a limited number of cities in the United States with the following cities:
- Atlanta
- Baltimore
- Boston
- Dallas
- Denver
- Detroit
- Fort Worth
- Houston
- Las Vegas
- Los Angeles
- Philadelphia
- Phoenix
- San Francisco
- San Jose
- Seattle
Aaron Wall of SEO Book, spoke up about Microsoft’s unfortunate move to plug themselves with added billboards to the minimal number of cities they offered:
“By Microsoft placing the billboards in their images they change the focus of what people talk about from the quality of the product to the stupid billboards. If they have no users the billboards do not matter, and what is the point of going to that much effort to gather the data if you are going to put fake billboards on it right out of the gate?”
So it goes to show you, even the big boys make mistakes. The question that this raises:
What are you trying to promote, your new product or your old product?
Thanks Microsoft for displaying what not to do!
