Well, I would like to share that Build a Better Website will move in 2007.
Blogger has been a great thing for me. If any of you have a passion that you enjoy talking about and your spouse doesn’t understand or like to hear about, you know what I am talking about.
The-Blog-Life started as a test. When the news broke back in October 2004 that Google would be acquiring Blogger, I had to act. I opened an account to find out what all the buzz was about. I posted a couple of times about stuff that had nothing to do with SEO. Sports, politics, surfing and other things that really didn’t matter too much.
I really didn’t see what blogging would come to be.
Skip to August 2006, when I went to SES San Jose and my eyes were opened. Being an in house SEO, I wanted to reinforce some concepts that we (my design team) were using in developing a new platform for our websites. Being in a difficult vertical, travel, we were embarking on our greatest endeavor yet. We wanted to be sure that we were not missing anything and that we had built a quality niche travel directory and search engine. Now we are moving into full speed with Trip2Earth.com.
We were reassured about our plan at the conference, however, we learned more in a few days than we had in a year. I learned something significant, blogging can help me build a reputation in my industry, even though I have only one client.
I met and spoke with Matt Cutts, Eric Ward, Debra Mastaler, Mike Grehan and Bill Slawski. Speaking with Matt Cutts one-on-one was a little overwhelming, but I felt extremely comfortable speaking with Eric, Debra, Mike and Bill. It was like a homecoming for me. I am sure that they didn’t, and still don’t, feel the same, but some of these are the people I have been listening to for years.
I especially related to Bill Slawski and enjoyed a good ten minute (easy) conversation. But one thing stood out, he asked me, “do you blog?” So, from that point on I decided that blogging should get a second look.
Wow! I actually enjoy it and it helps me to keep up with my industry because I like it, not just because it is my job. I cannot thank Bill enough for his consideration. I think it is a required read for anyone that is in the design, development and marketing of a website.
So, for 2007, I have decided that the-blog-life.blogspot.com should no longer be a test project and become something more. I am not the authority on SEO. I have accepted that, but I can be more than I am.
So, in 2007 the-blog-life.blogspot.com will be moving to a new domain SEOpittfall.com. The domain is purchased and the DNS is being directed to my hosting. I will be developing a template and publishing in the next few weeks.
I would also like to thank you, the readers and silent supporters of my project and would appreciate your continued support as I move. More news will be coming in the next few weeks.
