SearchMash.com - What is Google Up to?

by pittfall on October 4, 2006

SearchMash.com is live.

So what, just another engine to add to the mix, right? Not quite!

How often does Google launch a new search platform with a new layout without the world knowing. Maybe we haven’t been listening. Search Engine Watch sited that Google is testing new user interfaces without adding to the normal or Google Labs testing. Under the radar, like a pet project.

Doing a simple search, using the AJAX interface, provided different results than the normal Google Index, similar but different. It also only provided 90 results instead of the normal 1,000. It is interesting, but it remains unseen how it will affect, or if it will affect the standard Google Search.
