Katie,
Thanks for the comment. Believe it or not, that is it. This video, and social networking, isn't that complex.

Now there are many other facets that are not covered, but I think the intended point of the (less than 2 minute) video is that it really isn't that complex. If you want to get into it further, it has huge ramifications on the Internet.

It's not the whole video is it? It seems to cut off a little early in the explanation. Too deep for me...

John,
The purpose of SMO, or anything that you do is suspect. Take blogging for instance, it is only effective if you maintain a consistent topic. The same goes for social sites, unless you are really there for the social aspect. But I am sure that you can find a great garage band if that is what you are looking for!

Oh, and by the way, "animated giffed out emo band promo pages" returns a recommended result for "animated gif out emo band promo pages" and the first is a blog result about myspace - http://www.mikeindustries.com/blog/archive/2006/04/myspace-click-factory. Not a single myspace result, I imagine that is because most myspace profiles are spam...

You know those times you're on MySpace and you're wondering why the heck you ever signed up? This reminds me that it's actually a place you can go network around in, not just a series of animated giffed out emo band promo pages. I wonder what "animated giffed out emo band promo pages" returns on Google? Probably a MySpace profile.
