Thank you to everyone that have been following this blog throughout the year, but if you haven’t, no worries because here are the Top 10 posts from 2009. These are the top posts based upon the amount of traffic to these pages this year.
I appreciate everyone’s feedback and enjoy sharing information with you. Here’s to 2009 and more testing and common sense for SEO in 2010.
#1. Further Study on the Value of Image Optimization
Here are the results of my test of alt and title elements for images and their influence on organic rankings:
“This will give us the opportunity to see if one of these elements might have no weight whatsoever.”
#2. Directory Submissions for Success
Here I explore the questions:
“1. Are directory submissions still a relevant tactic and worth your time and your budget to build quality links to your website for improved ranking in SERPs?
2. Are directory submissions still a relevant tactic and worth your time and your budget to build quality links to your website to get more traffic to your website?
#3. Link Building Tips – Google Alerts
Find out how to leverage this free tool to build quality links:
“There are a lot of things that can be helpful in finding the right type of sites to seek links from, but there are some activities that are easier than others.
#4. Link Building Via Content Development
Content is still king, but how do you get the links you need to rank competitively:
“Thinking outside of the box is extremely important to get momentum rolling for a website to start ranking and being found and this is especially important for link development.”
Here the “nofollow” link attribute is discussed to determine if it is still valuable and if it should be:
“We see that Google says that they will not find pages if the only way they are accessible is via no followed links, however, there are so many other ways to find this content and get it into their index.”
#6. Die Duplicate Content Die!
What is duplicate content and why is controlling it important to SEO:
“How does duplicate content exist, what is it’s impact on search engines and, more importantly, how does it affect online publishers in search engine results?”
#7. Link Building 2.0 – Link Development in Web 2.0
How has “Web 2.0″ had an impact on link building:
“Since the root of link building is about the links to a website and with the more users having a voice online because of Web 2.0, it has had an important direct impact on link development.”
#8. Measuring the Value of ALT and Title Elements of Image Tags
My first test on alt and title image elements value in ranking:
“My initial assumption was that the title element has little, if not no value, however, based upon the results of this study, it appears that this is not the case.”
How can you influence search results when they are geo-modified:
“…I know how difficult it can be to manage the efforts to get traditional store locations in the results of the major engines. Of course, as if I had some kind of inside information, here comes a consolidated answer: getlisted.org.”
And, last but not least:
#10. How to Win Links and Influence Webmasters
Here we explore the link building tactic known as direct requests:
“Direct requests for inbound links are a valuable way to build quality links to your website, however, the effectiveness of requesting links is directly linked (no pun intended) to the delivery of the request.”
Cheers!

I’m loving these types of posts, I’ve found a lot of articles from them that I missed out on in 2009, including this list.
Well, how I’d like to say: “The more you have, the more you have …”
That is nice list. it is always less what we know about SEO. This post proves it. SEO has been discussed for so many years now and will be discussed in future as well. Also this post is also part of that. Thanx for sharing!
I think #9 is a best post
Thanks for this nice list. I agree also with #9. There is a high potential if small companys sets the focus on this area. There are almost no competing companys there.
Thank you for sharing this nice post. But would you tell me more way to get link, or link building easily?
I face serious difficulties to build my link.
Thank you
Thank you for sharing the great post. And some of them are very helpful and practicle.
#3 to 5# articles are very helpful for me, because I still don’t know how to build links for my blog. And I will read them one by one. Thanks for the good list!
I just discovered your blog, so I’m glad you did a wrap up of some of your best posts from 2009. The lazy side of me really appreciates that. I like the resources you mention here, as especially the link building ones.
I also appreciate that your posts are very well-written. It shows that you put time and effort into your site and that sort of quality is always rewarded.
Great one dude. I knew a little about link building, but now knew more than before. Thanks for the wonderful post. I rate the articles 3, 4, 5 and 9 as the best.
Kudos
Thanks for the great information. I’ll try and take some of these key points and implement them for better results with our online success. I am interested in learning even more about Google alerts. I’ve never heard of it before coming across your post.
I like #2 and #3 best, very helpful for getting your website into the indexes.
I would have to agree with Depot I found both the 2nd and 3rd posts helpful when indexing or just simply improving the SERPS for your site.
Thanks for the helpful information.
I’ll try.
